Named an NEA Jazz Master in 2007, octogenarian Frank Wess has been on the jazz scene for six decades. His name is synonomous with swing having grown up in the era of big bands ? Lionel Hampton, Billy Eckstine, and most influential, Count Basie. Of its importance, Wess has said that ?all that other stuff, you can forget it. If you can't tap your foot or dance to it, you may as well be driving a cab. That's what it's all about.? (AllAboutJazz.com, 2005) Joining Wess for this concert will be Roni Ben-hur, a virtuoso guitarist with impeccable swing, for after all, swing is the thing.
