President-Elect Barack Obama to Join Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Harriet Tubman, Malcolm X, and Other Historical Luminaries in Wax at the National Great Blacks In Wax Museum
At the same time that President-Elect Barack Obama and his family are moving into the White House in Washington, D.C., his wax figure likeness will be gaining a permanent home at The National Great Blacks In Wax Museum.
On Monday, January 19, 2009, in commemoration of the Martin Luther King holiday, a special unveiling ceremony will be held in the Murphy Fine Arts Center at Morgan State University, 2201 Argonne Drive, Baltimore, MD. The event will take place from 9:00am to 12:00p.m. Dr. Joanne Martin, President and CEO said it is fitting that the unveiling of the Barack Obama wax figure is taking place on the Martin Luther King holiday. “I see so many parallels between these two historical personalities, Martin said. “Both saw the education and political arena as the stage on which strides toward racial equality could be made. The path for Mr. Obama has been trod by the likes of a Martin Luther King, a Medgar Evers, and a Rosa Parks. Indeed, we chose ‘Walking in the Footsteps of the Ancestors’ as the theme for our historic unveiling”. A complimentary tour of The National Great Blacks In Wax Museum is offered to all ticket holders. Bus groups must reserve their tour. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster or via the Museum’s secure website at www.ngbiwm.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the Museum, located at 1601 East North Avenue.
Tickets can be purchased at the following rates:
